Wrenita Alice Owen born February 18, 1943 in Dumont, Texas to Jim Hollar and Birdie Hollar (later Mrs. Jim Edmondson) passed away January 4, 2017 while in care at St. Luke’s Plaza.

She graduated from Guthrie High School in Guthrie, Texas in 1961, where she was the homecoming queen.  Later, she attended Amarillo College receiving a degree.  Wren was a retiree from Hallmark Cards after 25 years of faithful employment.  She resided in rural Clinton County, Missouri near Plattsburg with her best friend and husband of 18 years, Jim Owen.  Devoted to her family, she was an excellent mother, wife, and coach to all of us.  Wren enjoyed quilting, sewing, and caring for her many loved pets.  She was the President for the Town and Country Quilters Guild of Smithville, MO and an active member of Sew N Sews Quilters Guild of Lathrop, MO.  Wren also was a board member for the Kansas City Regional Quilt Show.  While a permanent resident of Missouri, she maintained her pride in her home state often using examples from her Texas upbringing to mentor her family.

Wren was preceded in death by her parents; Brothers: Earl “Tuffy” Hollar, Harmon “Red” Hollar, and Horace “Pete” Hollar; and infant granddaughter, Jessie Leigh Post.  She is missed by her surviving family: husband, Jim Owen; children: Rodney Roland of Seattle, WA; Jeff and Robin Post of Holt, MO; James Owen of Denver, Co; and Jack and Justine Detzel of Chicago, IL.  She also leaves behind grandchildren: Daulton Baldwin, Colt Post, Marlena Detzel, Alec Detzel, and Andie Detzel along with the most faithful of nieces and nephews: Marty and Hope Escoto, George and Heiadi Kenney, Howard and Marquetta Hollar, Holly and Allen Graham, Hal Hollar, Harlon and Linda Hollar, Harmon and Debby Hollar.
