Wilta Hearn

Wilta Gleen Hearn, 91, of Pilot Grove, Missouri and formerly of Kansas City, passed away February 9th, 2021. Visitation will be from 1-2pm on Friday, February 12 at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, with the service beginning at 2pm. Wilta was born on January 19th, 1930 in Oklahoma to Loy Lafayette Smith and Della (Bryen) Smith.  The family later moved to Long Beach California, where they lived for many years.  When Wilta was in high school, her family moved to Pilot Grove, Missouri where she met Charles Lee Schlotzhauer and they married.  The couple later divorced. Wilta worked part time as a legal secretary, enjoyed cooking and sewing and made many of her children’s clothes when they were young.

Wilta later married Leslie B. Hearn, and together they loved touring the country in their motor home and on Les’ motorcycle.  After Les died, Wilta was blessed to meet Donald Brandon and they spent many loving years together at the Riverstone Retirement community.

Wilta was preceded in death by husbands Leslie B. Hearn and Donald Brandon; her oldest son, Bruce A. Schlotzhauer; and a sister, Ruth Cheeseman.  She is survived by three children:  Patricia L. Stock (husband, Richard), Charles Gregory “Greg”Schlotzhauer, and Pamela S. Davis (husband, Terry); a daughter-in-law, Marlene Schlotzhauer; stepchildren: Vickie Hearn, Eddie Hearn (Jean Mendoza), and Dennis Hearn (wife, Judy); 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Vera Baker (husband, Tom Baker); other relatives and friends.
