Wilma Mason

Wilma Ruth (Richey)  Mason, 85, of Kansas City, MO passed away on May 10, 2021 at The Gardens of Barry Road, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on August 31, 1935 in Braymer, Missouri, Wilma was the 9th of 10 children born to James and Madge (Merchant) Richey. She grew up in Rayville, MO and later moved to Orrick, MO where she met her husband of 64 years, Robert “Bob” Mason. From this marriage they had four children and she took great pride in staying home to care for them. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, fishing with her husband, and listening to baseball games on the radio.  She was an avid reader and an excellent cook and baker, making a fresh dessert every night.  She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob Mason, infant son, Andy Louis, son-in-law, Ron Peterson, and eight siblings. She will be greatly missed by her children Kathy Barnes (Alan), Greg Mason, and Diane Peterson.  Also surviving are her grandchildren Sara and Chris Barnes, Dustin, Lauren, and Samuel Peterson, Kara and Alexa Mason, and two great-grandsons. She is also survived by her brother, Tommy Richey.  Services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Friday, May 14th with visitation at 11:00am, and funeral at 12:00pm. Burial will take place at South Point Cemetery in Orrick, MO following  the funeral service.  Contributions may be made to Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
