Wilma “Ruth” Cable, 91, of Gladstone, Missouri went home to meet her Lord and Savior, on January 29, 2021.
Ruth was born on April 7, 1929 in Davenport, Iowa, the sixth of seven children of Jesse & Allie (Bain) McHargue. While she was a child, the family moved back to Missouri where she enjoyed life on the family farm. She graduated high school in Princeton, Missouri.
After graduating, she moved to Kansas City, MO. There she met and married her first husband, Earnest C. Lyons. They had two children, Elnora Ruth and Earnest Carmen. Later in life, on November 12, 1971, she would marry Raymond L. Cable.
Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. This strong faith helped her endure difficult challenges.
She cherished moments with family and friends. She enjoyed receiving and giving cards. Some of her favorite activities included walking in her neighborhood, reading, bowling, dancing and spending time at her church.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond and 4 sisters: Evelyn, Martha, Willalee, and Lucille and 1 brother Robert.
She is survived by her children, Elnora R. Maynez and Earnest Lyons (wife Terri); granddaughters Amanda, Angela and Melissa; 10 great grandchildren Scott, Monica, Phillip, Kevin, Trevor, Kaden, Severin, Dominick, Kalina, and Brexton; brother J.R. and many loving nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be from 1-2pm Friday, February 5, with services to follow at 2pm, all at Terrace Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Terrace Park Cemetery.
The family wants to express their sincere appreciation for all the wonderful organizations and individuals that collectively worked to allow Ruth to obtain her wish of living out her final days at home.
