William J. Legg (Bill), D.O., passed away on 5 March, 2016 after a short illness. He was born on June 29, 1921 to Mary Isabelle Kirkpatrick and Everet Preston Legg (Orrick, MO). In 1949 Bill married Ruth Ann Thompson, with whom they had three children. Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann, sister Helen Sullivan of Duncan OK, children Thomas Legg (wife Alison) of Galena, MO, David Legg (wife Cindy) of Laramie, WY, Elisa Hamby, of Kansas City, grandchildren Robert Hamby (wife Lauren) of Kansas City, Stacie Hamby, of Kansas City, Sarah Legg, of Coldfoot, AK, Taylor Legg, of Brooklyn, NY, April Legg (husband Justin Wilson), of Irvine, CA, Adam Legg (wife Avery), of North Kansas City, as well as great-grandchildren, Halle Hamby and Brandon Hamby, both of Kansas City. He was preceded in death by sister, Marge Fisher, of Hackett, AR.
Bill was a loving, gentle husband and father to all of his family. Bill was a General Practice Physician for 47 years after which he taught osteopathic manipulative skills at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB). He touched the lives of all his students. He also developed extensive woodworking skills, the products of which will always be treasured.
Visitation and services will be on Saturday, March 12, at Hillside Christian Church (900 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64118), with visitation beginning at 10 am, to be followed by services at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO. 64155.
