William Haney

William Larry Haney passed away on March 10, 2021, at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with lung disease.  Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Larry managed his illness with strength and grace and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by family who will honor his legacy by living life to the fullest.

Larry was born on December 14, 1945, in North Carolina. He grew up loving the outdoors and his love for wildlife spanned across his life.  If Larry wasn’t with his family, he could always be found in a duck blind or deer stand.  Those close to Larry know that he was an environmental advocate and conservationist.

Larry served his country with honor as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps.  He served three tours in Vietnam where he earned countless medals and commendations for his bravery and leadership.  Larry was a rifle expert and shared his knowledge with young Marines. He is well-known in his community for his continued service for Veterans through counseling support.  While the effects of the war impacted his life and health, Larry always said he wouldn’t change anything about serving his country.

Larry was known for cracking jokes and always enjoyed a good laugh. He had a wonderful storytelling gift and would mesmerize his grandchildren with hysterical stories and tales of his full life.  Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Carlile and Ruby, and his brother Dennis.  He is survived by his loving wife, Patti, his children, Michael, Courtney (Rodrigo), Abraham, Hannah, and Brian (Angie), and grandchildren, Eric, Sofia, Alexis, and Finnegan, as well as his brothers Thurman (Freddie), John (Vivian), and David (Vicki).

The visitation and funeral service will be held at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri.
