William Cooper

William R. Cooper, 87, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on February 9, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

Bill was born on September 28, 1930 to William and Sylvia Cooper in Sampsel, Missouri. Bill married Gladys Rainey in 1949 and they enjoyed over 68 years together. After their marriage, he went to serve in the US Air Force during the Korean War, serving four years. Upon his return, he began his career with Southwestern Bell, having a variety of positions until his retirement in 1983. Bill enjoyed his retirement years traveling with his wife, spending time with their family, camping, and cooking. He will be most remembered for his talent for woodworking and the priceless gifts he leaves behind for his grandchildren, including everything from toy boxes to rocking horses to play houses.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Jewel Cooper, baby of Chester and Barbara Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; his children: Will (Sarah) Cooper and Chester (Barbara) Cooper; his grandchildren: Lillian Cooper, Cheyenne Cooper, Abigail Cooper, and Adeline Cooper; and his siblings: Betty Ford, Joe Cooper, and Darryl Cooper.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12th at 11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior to service at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St, Kansas City, MO 64155. Interment in Terrace Park Cemetery with military honors will follow.
