William "Bill" E. Hogle

January 2, 1935 — February 5, 2025

William (Bill) Earl Hogle of Kansas City, Missouri, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Veterans Home in Mount Vernon, Mo on February 5, 2025.

Bill was born on January 2, 1935, in Conneaut, Ohio to William W. and Doris (Stanford) Hogle. His childhood was full of great memories of living on Lake Erie. He developed his love for film making and oil painting which were lifelong hobbies. During his high school years, he discovered his creative side and was interested in acting and theater and spent much of his free time at Rabbit Run Theater. Upon graduation at the age of 17, he moved to New York City to pursue an acting career. After being a starving artist, he decided to join the Army and travel the world. He was successful in that endeavor and was stationed in Germany for two years. During that time, he traveled on leave to many parts of Europe and travel became his passion. His favorite places were Greece, Germany and Italy as reflected in many of his paintings and films.

Upon his return home, he moved to Kansas City to start working for Trans World Airlines. Little did he know he would make some lifelong friends and meet the love of his life, Dee. They met and within six months were married on July 10, 1960. They had two children, Diana K. (Hogle) Connelly and William J. Hogle. He continued to enjoy his passion of travel with his family, documenting many places and family events onto movies and videos that we all enjoy today. His passion for lake life continued at Lake Viking where many memories were made throughout generations of his family. He ended his working career as a Travel Agent at Burke Travel, doing what he loved, planning dream vacations.

Bill was a devout member of King of Kings Lutheran Church and served as an elder for many years. He was a great example of a Christian man and carried out his Faith by words and example. So many who knew him commented on his gentle spirit and kindness, especially those who cared for him this past year at Mo Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon. All who met him saw his light shine and it was obvious this light came from his Faith.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Walter Hogle and Doris Frances Hogle, his wife of 60 years, Delores A. (Meyer) Hogle.

He is survived by one brother, John R. Hogle and sister-in-law Susan Hogle of Ashtabula, Ohio, children Diana K. (Hogle) Connelly and son-in-law Kim Connelly of Mt. Vernon, Mo and William J. Hogle and daughter in law Victoria J. Hogle of Kansas City, Mo. Grandchildren Sarah C. (Hogle) McElroy (Branndon McElroy), Sean C. Connelly (Sarah Connelly), W. Chandler Hogle, and Kathryn G. Connelly. Great Grandchildren Lorelei and Orlin Connelly.
