William Ayers

January 15, 1940 — May 25, 2019

William C. “Bill” Ayers, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri died peacefully at Rosewood Health and Rehab on Saturday, May 25, 2019.  He was born January 15, 1940, in Alta, Iowa to the late Wilfred C Ayers and Margaret (Edson) Ayers -Peterson.

Bill loved this life.   He loved the outdoors and all the things God created.   He loved his family, friends and Buddy, his loyal golden retriever.   He loved dancing with his wife and their friends, burnt ends from Smokehouse, and all things sweet, but especially lemon meringue pie and Werthers candy.  He also enjoyed music, photography, and just puttsing and tinkering around the house.   His girls will always remember how proud he was of them and how he would talk about them often to everyone.  We know when we see him again, we will hear the whistle he used to call us home.  He worked in a sales and service career for Farmland Industries and MAC Equipment in Kansas City, and retired from Pesco Inc. in Edina, Mn.  He was a member of North Cross United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife and the love of his life for more than 55 years, Nancy; their daughters Sharon (Richard) Hary (Monticello, MN), Bryna (Trent) Ericksen (Liberty, MO) and Teresa (Mike) Emanuel. (Smithville, MO) Grandchildren Kirra, Codi, Brandon, Lauren, Maegan, and Katie; great-grandchildren John and Grace, sister Sue Burrs (Corwith, IA) and brother Jim (Hope) Ayers (Brooklyn Park, MN). He is also survived by many extended family and friends.

A gathering of friends and family will be Saturday, June 1, 2019, beginning at 11 AM at North Cross United Methodist Church 1321 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64118, with a Celebration of Life service following at Noon. He will be laid to rest privately at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association ALZ.org or the Northland Shepherd Center NorthlandSC.org.
