Wayne Doyle Alban, 86, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at his home in Kansas City, Mo surrounded by his family. Wayne was born December 20, 1926 in Westphalia, Ks to Jesse and Edna (Goodrick) Alban. He married the love of his life, Virginia (Barr) Alban on June 2, 1950. Wayne is survived by his wife of 62 years of the home and 4 daughters, Jenny Lindsey (Bob), Carole Alban, Diane McCaffrey (Pete), and Sheri Wiley (Joseph), six grandchildren, Jewel Alban, Rob Lindsey, Johnny McCaffrey, Chad Stephens, Matt McCaffrey, and Adam Stephens and a great grandchild, Cooper Lindsey.Wayne is a WWII veteran and served in the Navy 1944 to 1946 on the USS Melville. After graduating from the University of Kansas in 1951 with a degree in engineering, he worked at Vendo Company. He began working as a mechanical engineer at Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, Mo. in 1953 and retired in 1985. Wayne and Virginia spent many post-retirement years traveling the United States and Canada in their RV and wintering in Tuscan, Az. Wayne was a gifted artisan in woodworking, stained glass and silversmithing. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, an avid reader and student of life.Visitation will be at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108 Street, Kansas City, Mo 64155 on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Wayne requested this be a suit-and-tie-free celebration.
