Virginia West Koon

VIRGINIA ELIZABETH WEST KOON, 82 of Kansas City, MO passed away April 20, 2013 after a two-year battle with cancer.  Virginia was born July 12, 1930 in Blackstone, Virginia. She married Carl on October 27, 1951.  They moved to Kansas City, MO in 1952.  Her greatest joys were cooking for and spending time with family and friends and serving her church.  Virginia and Carl were charter members of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church.  She volunteered at North Kansas City Hospital and Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Carl E. Koon; 3 sons Gary Koon (Wendy); Robert Koon (Kathy); Steven Koon (Traci); 7 grandchildren Stephanie Wagner (Paul); Ashley Gemmell (Kegan) ; Brian Koon (Barbara); Katelin Koon; Kelsey Kelley (Grant) ; Derek Koon and Denton Koon; 3 great-grand children: Daniel Wagner,  Matthew Wagner and Hannah Elizabeth Gemmell; 2 sisters, 1 brother and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation on Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m. and memorial service at 11 a.m. at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church, 2800 NE 64th St, Gladstone.  Burial at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park.  Memorials may be made to Meadowbrook United Methodist Church.
