Virgil L. Holmes

Virgil L. Holmes, 88, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on October 24, 2023.

Virgil was born on February 21, 1935 in Alton, Illinois to Paul and Lucille Holmes. He married the love of his life, Berthalee “Bert” (Tindall) and from this marriage they were blessed with two children. Always a hard worker, Virgil spent 41 years in the trucking industry as a local truck driver and was proud member of the Teamster Local 41 Union. When he wasn’t hard at work, Virgil spent much of his time reading, but what he cherished most was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed sports, especially golf, and was a long time member of the Excelsior Springs Golf Course as well as an ambassador for the Kansas City Royals for 28 years.

Virgil will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 68 years, Berthalee Holmes; children, Roxanne Carter and Les (Laurie) Holmes; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Vivian Boen; and many extended family and friends.
