Vernon George Eplee, son of the late Claud and Emma (Davis) Eplee, was born on May 11, 1930 and departed this life on March 10, 2019. At the time of his passing he was 88 years of age.
Vernon was born in Smithton, Missouri and at an early age moved to Kansas City, Missouri. At the age of 19, he met Betty Swafford and on February 7, 1951 they were united in marriage. Together they lived in the Greater Kansas City area where they raised their family. While Betty stayed home to raise the children, Vernon worked the majority of his life at Ralston Purina Company/Cargill for 40 years. He was an excellent artist and craftsman. He loved playing music, singing and spending time with family and church friends. Also, Vernon loved gardening, hunting, fishing and relaxing at Pomme De Terre Lake. He was very active at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church; serving as Deacon, hospital ministry, teaching and counseling over many years. He truly enjoyed greeting people at the East Entrance of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church every Sunday morning.
Vernon was preceded in passing by his parents; and two siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty Eplee; four children, Vicky, Linda, Vern Jr., and Mark; two siblings, Herbert and Ruby. He also leaves behind a large footprint with many many grandchildren, greats and great-greats.
