Vera Forbis

Vera Louise Forbis, 69, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on November 18, 2022. Vera was born on April 25, 1953 to Perl and Hazel Carter. She graduated from La Porte City High School. During her time in La Porte she met the love of her life, Dennis Forbis, when he stopped to ask her where he could find a phone book. They thought they would never see one another after that day, but as fate would have it they crossed paths again at a service station, where Dennis was working, and the two were inseparable ever since. Dennis and Vera were married on June 12, 1972 and from this marriage were blessed with four children. Dennis’s job allowed them to move all throughout the United States -Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, South Dakota, Oklahoma, and eventually Missouri where they stayed in the Kansas City area. Vera never minded all of the travelling and especially didn’t mind upgrading their family home each time they relocated. She made every house feel like home with her exquisite cooking and baking. She spent much of her 30+ years working in collections, retiring from Citi Bank in 2020. Outside of work she enjoyed shopping, reading, watching Lifetime Christmas movies and crime shows, and she was a talented singer and enjoyed listening to music. Above all her family and her faith were the most cherished aspects of her life. She was a devoted Christian and member of Life Church.
