Tommy Dale Pickle, 71, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away on January 25, 2022. He was born on July 13, 1950 to Hester Lee and Oenida Pickle.
Growing up, Tommy loved to make model cars and airplanes. He was always tinkering with something, which carried on into his adult life. As a young boy, he loved visiting cousins in Oklahoma and being outside, going fishing, and swimming.
As an adult, Tom worked for General Motors, then United Transport, which moved him and his family from Missouri to Texas, for many years. In the early 90s, Tom moved back to Kansas City. In his later years, Tom worked for Kryger Glass in Kansas City and Manheim Auto Auction.
Some of Tom‘s hobbies included playing pool, learning about astronomy and technology, creating his favorite mix tapes, becoming a history buff, watching NASCAR, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. His greatest pastimes were always working on cars, especially his prized possession, 1974 Monte Carlo, going fishing and hanging out with his dear friend of more than 50 years, Elton Ditto, and just sitting down and watching old movies and classic cartoons with his wife, Paula. In his final years, it brought him great joy to reconnect with his son, Troy.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Don Pickle, and daughter Tonya Pickle.
Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Paula Coker Pickle of Kansas City, Mo.; sister Jean (Jerry) Giddens of Joplin, Mo.; half-brother Bill Pickle of Ar.; son Troy Pickle of Liberal, Mo.; daughter Sharon Lopez of Austin, Texas; step-daughter Jodie (Chad) Mealer of Grandview, Tx.; grandchildren Samantha Steel and Dalton Pickle; Alexis, Ashton, and Aviel Mealer; and Adelaido Lopez.
