Thomas "Tom" Daffron

January 25, 1926 — December 24, 2019

Thomas "Tom" Daffron, 93, passed away on Christmas Eve, 2019.  Born in Hoxie, AR and delivered into this world on January 25, 1926 by a Mid-Wife named Mrs.Thomas and named after her.

Tom Daffron was a kind soul with a heart as big as the heaven he now resides.  He treated everyone equal, with respect and fairness. His gentle nature knew no bounds.

Tom was an avid card player and played his final game of "Hand and Foot" with his friends at Wexford only 3 days before he passed peacefully.  He was a camper, a fisherman, a traveler (always by car) avid sports fan and an amateur musician.

Tom grew up in Wichita, KS.  The 1st son of Elmer D Daffron & Julia Mae (Wright) Daffron.  Tom had 2 sisters; Syna Lorene and Mildred Louise and one brother, Johnny Dean.

Tom Attended Wichita East HS but left in 1944 to join the US Army in WWII.  Tom was assigned to Co. C, 515 Parachute Infantry in France.  He was always proud to say he was a paratrooper, but also admitted in later years "he wouldn't do that again!"

Tom returned to Wichita in 1946 to Wichita East HS and received his Diploma. He set his sights on Oklahoma A&M and moved there only to find that the school was overcrowded and was unable to get in that year.

He moved to Kansas City and began his career at the United States Postal Service in the late 1940s.  He put in over 30 years of service and retired in 1982.

He met his first wife, Ruby in Kansas City and to that marriage his first daughter Teresa Lynne was born.  With this marriage he became Step-Dad to Cheryl Diane (Sheri).

Tom's 2nd marriage came about when he was introduced to Regina Eileen Lichty by a mutual friend.  Tom and Reggie both had children from their previous marriages.  They instantly became a family with Jimmie, Rickie and Teresa.  Then, came little sister, Denise. This has always been referred to by dad as the "Hers, Mine and Ours" family!

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mae Daffron.  First born infant child of Elmer and Mae, daughter Syna Lorene. Brother, Johnny Dean and Sister, Mildred Louise.  His Grandson, Dallas Lichty and his wife of 52 years, Reggie Daffron in 2009.

Tom is survived by his children; Sons; James Robert Lichty (Shelia) and Richard Hugh Lichty (Reva).  Daughters, Teresa Lynne Ross and Denise Marie Terry (Dennis).
