Dr. Thomas Emery

Dr. Thomas Edwin Emery, 80, of Parkville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at Cameron Veterans Home surrounded by his family on Monday, November 7, 2016.
Tom is survived by his wife Deborah Emery of 43 years; sons, Jeffrey, Ryan, Derek Tyler Emery; daughters, Shelly Sawatzky and Kelly Emery; brother, Denny (Kay) Emery; many loving grandchildren, Brittney Mihalich, Halle Blanchon, Austin Blanchon, Lauren Sawatzky, Stephen Sawatzky, Kyle Sawatzky, Makenna Emery, Jake Emery, Alex Emery and one great grandson, Matthew Mihalich; nieces; nephews and extended family.  Tom is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Frank A.C. Emery; mother, Nellie Mae Emery and brother, Dr. Frank Eugene Emery.
Tom’s love for boating, water and the sun brought memories that will last a lifetime.  Tom’s passion and pride also extended outside his family at home, a Captain in the United States Air Force and a successful dental practice for over 45yrs.  Over the 45yrs, several hundred friends (patients) brought not just their toothaches but also personal stories and laughter. Tom’s deep compassion for his patients brought beautiful smiles and comfort to all.
A very special thank you to the Missouri Veterans Home and Comfort Care Hospice for their loving care and support for Tom and his family.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm with a service starting at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 12 at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. Kansas City, MO 64155. Burial with military honors to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery.  Family invites everyone to a reception at the Lakeside Chapel following services.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cameron Veterans Assistance League (Dover’s Point) or Comfort Care Hospice both located in Cameron, Missouri.
