Terry E. Estes, 82 of Kansas City, MO passed away on January 29, 2017. He was born January 14, 1935 in Delaware, Oklahoma to the late Everett and Roberta (Wilson) Estes.
Terry served his country in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963 during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, Terry met and fell in love with his wife, Patricia Ann. Terry and Patricia Ann married June 7, 1958, and moved to Windsor, MO, where they welcomed their first daughter in July of 1959. In 1960, the family moved to Colorado and welcomed their second daughter in December of that year.
Over the years, Terry welcomed a number of titles, from Commander of the VFW Post #5606 to the President of the Two Wheelers Motorcycle Club. He worked for TWA from 1964 until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, Terry enjoyed tinkering in his garage, reading the Sunday paper, working in the yard, taking care of the birds and squirrels and his many other hobbies that never lasted for more than a month at a time.
In addition to his parents, Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (aka Big Red).
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Teri (Fred) Watson and Debbie (Steve) Cartwright. He was the beloved grandpa to 6 grandchildren: Nikki Jackson, Matt McNally, Jessica Watson, Elaine Jones, Devon Cartwright, Dani Percival and 10 great-grandchildren who called him Grandpa “Grape”. He is also survived by his brother, Dean Wilson.
Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2017 from 1-2 PM at Terrace Park Lakeside Chapel, 801 NW 108th Street, KCMO. Services will follow at 2 PM. Interment with Military honors will be in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the VFW Post #5606, 5406 NE Oak Ridge Dr., KCMO 64119.
