Stephen Anderson Murray, 33, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
Stephen was born in Russellville, AR on September 19, 1987. His family moved to Kansas City when he was a young boy, so it was Kansas City he called home. Stephen played football and baseball growing up and was a talented pitcher. At the age of 13, he was invited by People to People International to represent the United States as the starting pitcher during a two-week competitive tour in Australia and New Zealand. His team took the gold.
Stephen was a graduate of Oak Park High School. He was a passionate fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Some of his happiest memories were made at Kauffman and Arrowhead Stadiums with his friends and family. Stephen was always the funny man. Often doing impressions and reciting lines from his favorite movies, he loved to make people laugh. He was a loving and loyal friend, known for his quick wit, huge smile, and infectious laugh.
Stephen is survived by his parents, David and Tamara Murray, sister Patrice (Jimmy) Pitts and niece, Avery Pitts, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Terrace Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10am with the service to follow at 11am. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, space will be limited to family and close friends. Those that wish to view the service virtually, may do so clicking the link below . Since we will not be able to host a large gathering to properly honor Stephen, we will be planning an outdoor get together later this year.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stephen’s honor to the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation (link below).
Please leave a memory or message that will be shared with the family.
