Shirley Yadon

Shirley Jean (Thomas) Yadon, 84, of Liberty, Mo passed away March 1, 2013. Shirley was born in Macon, Missouri to Eva (Allen) and William Ray Thomas. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1945 and worked for TWA in the downtown offices for a period after graduation. On February 28, 1947 she married the late Paul K. Yadon who served in the Army Air Corps and later retired from Armco Steel. They lived their entire married life in the Northeast Kansas City area where they raised three daughters, Marcia Yadon-Steward, Kansas City, Mo, Karen (Yadon) Bosler, Liberty, Mo, Sara (Yadon) Holbert, Lebanon, Mo, 6 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Northeast Presbyterian Church where she and Paul enjoyed volunteering in the food pantry. The last years of Shirley's life were spent at the Our Lady of Mercy Country Home in Liberty, Mo. There she made many friends and enjoyed volunteering in a number of ways around the facility. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 7:30 pm Friday March 22nd at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108 Street, Kansas City, Mo. Graveside services are 10:00 am Saturday March 23rd at Mount Moriah South Cemetery, 10507 Holmes, Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to local animal shelters which was one of Shirley's favorite charities.
