Shirley Mueller, age 91, passed away May 1, 2021 in Hermiston, OR. She was born July 11, 1929 to Arthur Milton and Elsie (Oitzman) Harmon.
Shirley married Donald Mueller in 1946, together they raised 4 daughters and had many foster children. They opened their home and heart to those in need. She and Don started a church in Kearney, MO and worked in prison ministry for over 17 years. The two led many to the Lord.
In her 40’s, Shirley attended Donnell College and even graduated on the Dean’s List. She worked as a guardian for children within the social service system in Clay County and as an Assistant to the Director Administrator. Her love for people also led her to starting programs to aid senior citizens.
Shirley’s involvement in these activities drove her to run for State Representative. She even got to meet Ronald Reagan.
As Shirley and Don got older, the two enjoyed traveling. They spent time sight-seeing and visiting many places around the world.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; late husband of 70 years, Don Mueller in 2016; grandson, Terry Chamberlain; great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hernandez; and sister, Virginia Weber.
She is survived by daughters: Linda Chamberlain of Raymore, MO, Rebecca Whitmore of Adams, OR, Sherry Longwell Spencer of Liberty, MO, and Debbie Moffett of Liberty, MO; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
