Sandra K. Thomas, 70, of Independence, MO passed away March 8, 2017. She was born December 12, 1946 in Burbank, California to the late Jack and Betty (Williams) Barnes.
Sandra was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She dearly loved her four beautiful grandchildren; Shawn (10), Katelyn (9), Braden (7) and Emily (6). For many years, she provided child care for numerous families in her Independence neighborhood and because of this became very well regarded. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and loved to travel. Her greatest joy though was spending time with her grandkids and making others happy.
In addition to her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Ada and Albert Thomas.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 44 years, David Thomas; children, Brian Thomas and Stacy Thomas; grandchildren, Shawn, Katelyn, Braden and Emily; brother, Mike Barnes and wife, Jeanette; her best friends of many years, Rick and Rhonda Hughes and her best four-legged companion, Chase.
Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2017 from 11:00AM – 12:00 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street ( 169 Hwy and Shoal Creek Pkwy), Kansas City, MO 64155 Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army. Online condolences may be left at TerraceParkFH.com.
