Samuel Hartzler

November 30, 1974 — December 7, 2017

Samuel Neal Hartzler, 43, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017, after his battle with melanoma. Sam was born November 30, 1974, to Lloyd and Bunny (Frost) Hartzler, in San Diego, CA. He graduated from Kickapoo High School, Springfield, Missouri in 1993. On June 23, 2007 he married Barbara Potter, the love of his life. Sam was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed many different sports including; golfing, fishing, baseball, pheasant hunting, and football. He also coached youth basketball. Sam was a huge Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, and was looking forward to next season with a new coach. He enjoyed listening to classic country music and playing games with his family, like Rook, and Farkle. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his well-timed one liners. Sam is also known for being a loyal friend.

Sam is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Wayne and Alsa Hartzler, and his maternal grandfather Jack Frost.

He leaves behind his wife of 10 years, both parents, his maternal grandmother Knoxie Frost, a sister Joan (Brett) Nelson of Morocco, a brother Nick (Lindsay) Hartzler of Liberty, MO, nieces and nephews; Dakota, Garrett, Murena, and Thandi Nelson, Claire, Molly, and Kate Hartzler, his dog Herbie Husker, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 6 – 8 PM at Northland Cathedral, 101 NW 99th St, Kansas City, MO.  Funeral Services will be Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Northland Cathedral. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the family to help offset medical expenses in Sam’s fight against cancer.  Please make checks payable to Barbara Hartzler and send to the funeral home.  Share online condolences at TerraceParkFuneral.com.
