Ruth Dee Barron Wilson, passed away August 29, 2014 at age 95. She was a resident of Maplewood Nursing Center. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at Winnwood Baptist Church, visitation 10 a.m and service 11:00.
Slater, MO was the birthplace of Ruth Dee Barron Wilson. The daughter of Benjamin Franklin Barron and Verna McCluhan Barron, she was born on the 19th of September, 1918, the fifth in line of eight children. Her father, Ben, an engineer on the Chicago-Alton Railroad, provided frequent rides for the family to travel to Kansas City’s Union Station. After losing her father in 1936, Ruth moved to Kansas City, Mo. She was a graduate from Central High School…’Class of 1938’.
Ruth was baptized at Winnwood Baptist Church in 1948 where she attended services for the next sixty-six years, and for many of those years taught Sunday school in several children’s departments. As a profession, Ruth managed three public school cafeteria’s giving a combined thirty years of service. She was loved, admired and remembered by many throughout the years.
Married to Orville Allen Wilson, and they raised four children; two daughters, Judith Lee Wilson (Thomas) Belt and Carole Jo Wilson (Kenneth) Jenkins, a niece, Sharon Elizabeth Williams (Dave) Bellinfante, and a nephew, the late, James Richard Williams.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Orville, the last seventeen years of her life, Ruth lived with her daughter Judy, and son-in-law, Tom. She always felt at home there and lived a very loving and comfortable life as they accommodated her every need. Her longevity is surely attributable to the tender loving care she received from Judy and Tom.
Ruth leaves her two daughters and, in addition to the aforementioned niece, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews, of the home, and others around the country
