Russell Vogel

On Thursday, April 8, 2021, Russell Leonard Vogel, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in his home at the age of 61. Russ was born on September 11, 1959 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Fred and Elizabeth (Traster) Vogel. Russ graduated from East Buchanan in 1977 and has been a Master Electrician at Ford Motor Company in Kansas City, Missouri with the UAW Local 249 for over 20 years.

Russ loved being a "Poppy" to his six grandkids. He was always ready with new adventures, interesting facts, clever riddles, eye-rolling dad jokes, or to just hang out and watch game shows. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Russ is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elizabeth; father-in-law, Walter Skinner; and brother, Randy Vogel. He is survived by his wife, Anita (Skinner) Vogel; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Skinner; siblings, Cindy and Mark Gayer, Sandra and Jerry Brown; children, Joshua Vogel, Michael and Elizabeth Smith, Mary and Chris Marquez, Mary Michelle Smith and Bryan Forrest; and his grandchildren, Jasmine, Houston, Weston, Aubrey, Mackenna, Wyatt and one on the way.

A visitation and will be held on Wednesday, April 14th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service and burial.
