Rose Kathryn Avery peacefully left us on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the age of 93.
She was born on March 20, 1924 in Livingston County Missouri to Newton & Nannie Gibson. With her brother Spencer Gibson, she grew up in a loving home and enjoyed being a part of a large extended family with many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. The family settled in Jamesport Missouri where she graduated from Jamesport High School.
She married Gerald Lyons Avery of Avalon Missouri on January 1, 1943. They enjoyed many years of happiness until his death on August 4, 2003. Living a long life she was preceded in death by many, the saddest for her was her grandson Jeffrey Scott Verman in July of 1989 at the age of 16.
She went back to work in 1976 for the Jones Store at Metro North, being an avid shopper this was a very happy time for her. She and Gerald enjoyed their retirement years spending the winters in the warmth of Texas in their RV. She was a member of Gashland Presbyterian Church and was involved in Bible Study and a Scrapbooking Group. Because of her love for scrapbooking she left a family history in many scrapbooks that will be cherished.
She is survived by her daughters Beverly Mason of Longwood Florida, Julie Iverson and son-in-law Jim of Kansas City, grandsons Jeromy Harris (Victoria) and Bradley Verman (Kimberly), great-grandchildren Antonio, Isabel, Ava, Lennon and Avery. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Patricia Bowman and many nieces and nephews and a circle of great friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:00 am, with Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 am at Gashland Presbyterian Church, 8029 N. Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery.
