Roscoe William Sellers, 94 of Kansas City, Mo passed away July 18, 2015 at Lawson Manor. Services will be private. Roscoe was born September 23, 1920 in Mendon, Mo to Wheeler Raymond and Flossie (Lindley) Sellers. Roscoe was preceded in death by his wife Norma (Buck) Sellers in November of 2008. They were high school sweethearts and were married 65 years.
Roscoe was hired by T.W.A. in May of 1941 as a mechanic, then in 1944 he proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II as a private aviation cadet. After the war, he came back to T.W.A. for 42 years, retiring in 1983 as a non-destructive testing supervisor. Roscoe was a born mechanic, he could fix anything. And he did much more. He had a love of airplanes and flying, so he earned his wings in 1973. In his Cessna 140 tail dragger, he would take his dog, Pompidou for rides ! He loved his motorcycle that he would ride to work almost every day. He liked banjo music, so when he retired, he took lessons and became a member in the K.C. Banjo Band. Besides flying trips, he and Norma would take wonderful trips in their Airstream trailer. Roscoe made beautiful oriental rugs, each one took 4 years to make , and he gave one to each grandchild. He won ribbons in county fairs and Airstream rally’s !
Roscoe and Norma were also charter members of the Unity Church in the Northland. Oh yes, while growing up he loved to hunt and fish too, and his favorite was turkey hunting ! He taught us all to waterski on Bean Lake. Roscoe was always kind, gentle and had a ton of patience. He was always there supporting us even when we weren’t aware. Survivors include his son, Donald Sellers, and wife Barbara, daughter, Diane Magnuson, and husband, Lee, 4 grandchildren, Jason (Laura) and Preston (Ellen) Sellers, Morgan and Matthew (Taryn) Miller, and 5 great grandchildren, Madeline, Claire, Gabrielle, Sarah and Ryan Roscoe.
