Rosalie Anne (Welton) Powell, age 76, crossed over in her sleep Monday morning, March 27, 2017. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri June 27, 1940.
Rosalie is survived by: son, David Powell & wife Donie (Blue) Powell, daughter, Lea Ann (Powell) Upchurch & husband Mark, daughter, Gail (Powell) Furtner & husband Bill, son, Myron Powell & wife Shawna (Loberg) Powell, son, Chris Barnard & wife Misty (Nelson) Barnard; grandchildren, Jessica Powell, Mark, Cody & Rick Upchurch, Abby & Mitch Furtner and Courtney, Carrie & Christine Barnard; great-grandchildren, AJ & Chris, Mia & Milani, Lacee, Julie, Annabelle, Paislee & Emma Lou.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne A. Powell; parents, Charles Welton, Sr. & Rosemary (Wolfe) Welton; brother, Charles Welton, Jr.; great-grandson, Lukas, Jr.
Wayne and Rosalie were High School sweethearts and married May 9, 1959. She was a graduate of St. Michael’s Catholic Grade School and East High School in Kansas City. She also attended Avila College of Nursing for a time. Rosalie served multiple terms as President of the PTA at her children’s schools and was a Camp Fire Girl leader. She was a very accomplished seamstress and homemaker, winning lots of ribbons over the years, including the Home Economic Sweepstakes (grand champion) at the Missouri State Fair. She retired after several years of working for the Park Hill School District as a Librarian and computer lab instructor.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 5-7 PM with services Friday, March 31 at 11 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Platte County Senior Services Meals on Wheels, 11724 NW Plaza Circle Drive, Suite 700, Kansas City, MO 64153.
