JAMES ROGER JONES
Roger Jones, 72, of Liberty, MO passed away April 11, 2016. He was born May 17, 1943 in Atchison, Kansas to James E. and Virginia (Peck) Jones.
Roger was from Weston, MO and graduated from West Platte High School. He retired from Cook Paint. Even after retiring, he was still very active; he worked as manager of the snack shack at Tri-County Mental Health Services. Over the past years, he volunteered many places: Harvesters, non-profit thrift stores, animal shelters, and churches; anywhere there was a need. He received many awards from the community for his services. Roger was a collector with large collections of Barbies, hot wheels, coins, baseball cards and watches. He was a kind, caring, gentle man. He was a best friend to many, a wonderful father and a loving grandfather.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and 2 nephews.
Those left to cherish his memory include 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way, 2 brothers and their wives, 2 nephews, 1 niece and too many friends to count.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 6:30 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Visitation will start at 6:00 PM at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Tri-County Mental Health Services, 3100 NE 83rd St., Suite 1001, Kansas City, MO 64119.
