Roger Dean Burd, 61, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023. He left this world surrounded by his wife and children. He was born December 1, 1961, in Emporia, Kansas to the late Bobby and Gladean (Griffin) Burd.
Roger had an unforgettable voice that is often imitated by his fans. He loved to make people laugh with his quick wit and could charm anyone he met. His grandchildren were his greatest joy and the bond he has with each of them; his greatest accomplishment.
He was a craftsman and mechanic with a vast portfolio of wood furniture, houses, and cars. As the go-to person in the family for DIY projects, he taught many of us how to achieve our goals. He was always willing to lend his time and knowledge, often at the expense of finishing his own ongoing projects.
Roger knew too well that tomorrow was not guaranteed. His life was marked by the tragic loss of his son, Jesse. He loved as if there was no tomorrow. Through his actions, Roger let his loved ones know how he felt every chance he got.
His favorite pastimes were golfing with his friends and sons, organizing large gatherings, cooking mountains of food for his family, and playing with his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered as a loving Husband to Adriana; a dedicated Father to his four children and three stepchildren; and a truly legendary Grandpa to his nine grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Adriana Burd, children; Millton (Adrian) Garcia, Tyler (Taylor) Burd, Katie (Ben) Earling, Dianna Garcia, Josh (Molly) Burd, Max Madrigal, and Madee Burd. Grandchildren: Nevaeh, Cynthia, Christian Jr., Andreas, Adan, Jacob, Amelia, Brooks, and Serena. Sister Linda (Bob) Dayhoff and the late Loy (Mike) Simon. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Roger is preceded in death by his son Jesse Burd, grandson J.B., and sister Loy Simon.
Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2023, from 12-2 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street. (Shoal Creek Parkway), celebration of life funeral service will immediately follow at 2 PM.
