Roberta Lee Peters, 75, passed away on August 22, 2023
Roberta was born on September 17, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the only child born to Harold and Loraine Cunis, and was blessed to have met the love of her life in grade school. She and Richard Peters were married in 1967 and from this marriage they were blessed with two daughters. The family spent their time living between the Florida Keys, Chicago, Illinois and Tampa, Florida. Roberta retired from the College of DuPage, where she worked as an administrative aide. Roberta enjoyed baking, and loved to share her goodies with all. There are many fans of her carrot and pineapple mini loaves of bread. She adored her family more than anything else, but a close second was her love for the Chicago Cubs, Travis Kelce, and Adam Levine (of Maroon 5). She shared her creativity by sewing and knitting hats, scarves, and the like, which she generously and kindly forced on all her loved ones and even strangers. Roberta's happy place was anywhere warm, and especially if it was near the beach. The cancer she bravely fought for the past four years was no match for her spunky, strong spirit. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Michelle (Amy) Tippie and Leslie Peters; beloved cat, Orie; her furry grandbabies and numerous friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 28th at Terrace Park Cemetery - Lakeside Chapel, with visitation at 1pm, followed by the memorial service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions maybe made to the KU Cancer Center. To celebrate Roberta's love for the beach, the family requests those attending wear tropical attire.
