ROBERT W. JONES

November 15, 1928 — August 8, 2013

Robert "Bob" W. Jones, 84, went to meet his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at Park Hill Baptist Church on Monday August 12, 2013 at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.  Robert was born on a farm northwest of Plattsburg, Missouri. He was the youngest child of six children, born to Charles Allen and Susan Arline Jones in 1928. Bob attended a one room school house at Mt. Hope for eight years and graduated from Plattsburg High School. In 1950 he married Betty Lee Jackson of Smithville, two girls were born to this union, Linda Christine and Tina Marie.  Robert served his country in the 2nd Armored Division of the U.S. Army in Germany. Returning home he farmed with his father for seventeen years, and also worked for the American Can Co. in NKC for 20 years. In 1968 he moved to Kansas City and was married to Martha Christina Fuller in 1973, and they made their home in Lake Waukomis, Missouri. In 1975 he was employed by the Kansas City area Transportation Co. as a bus operator, which he continued for 21 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed old classic cars, country music, rodeo, walking and friends at the Park Hill Baptist Church. He loved his two daughters, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two step-children, Danita Hodges and Tim Fuller, seven step-grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers John Jones and Sam Jones, three sisters Virginia Bishop, Mary Lou Sims and Kayo Dickerson, and a great granddaughter Jaynee Fountain. His favorite saying was "the roses are worth the thorns".
