Robert Lee Reber, 73, passed away on April 30, 2024.
Robert “Bob” was born on January 22, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents John and Vera Reber. Bob graduated from Westport High School in 1969. He soon after, began his long career in retail, working as a stock room manager for the Half Price Store and Gordmans until his retirement after 40+ years. Alongside his retail job, he also spent many years working at various race tracks. His passion for racing gave him the opportunity to work as a member of the fire crew, as well as a scale guy, greeter, and his favorite role - a flagman. He was a lifetime member of CARB Central Auto Racing Booster and was membership secretary for over 38 years. He was also inducted into the CARB Hall of Fame in 2023 and the Racing KC Hall of Fame in 2016. It was during a fateful day at the local bowling alley that Bob met the love of his life, Sharon. They were married in 1975 and from this marriage were blessed with two children. More than anything, Bob cherished spending time with his family whether that was through coaching his son’s youth sports teams or taking every opportunity to spoil his grandbabies. His smile, laughter, and jokes will all be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dan Reber. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon; children, Heather Reber and Bobby Jr (Ann-Marie) Reber; grandchildren, Karsyn and Jordyn Reber; brother, Randy (fiancée, Clara) Reber; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
