Robert Todd Burwell, 63, formerly of the Kansas City area passed away May 8th at his residence in Phoenix, Arizona. Services and inurnment will be at Terrace Park Cemetery in KC, MO on August 19th at 1 pm.
He was born in Kansas City on April 13, 1954 to Ann Todd (Swaney) Burwell and Walter Burwell. He was the youngest of six siblings. Robert graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1973. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He attended Southwest Missouri State University and graduated with a B.A. in Finance. Robert worked as a financial advisor for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Lee Burwell (Elaine Fleming Burwell). He leaves behind brothers, Bill Burwell and John Burwell (Linda Jenkins Burwell) and sisters, Mary Ann Burwell (Bob Curtis) and Nancy Longhibler (Calvin). Robert also had seven nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews. Robert enjoyed snow skiing in Colorado with a ski club while living in Kansas City and took up hiking during the time he lived in Phoenix. He also played tennis. He always loved seeing his nieces and nephews and watching their children grow. He was a big fan of the family dogs and always remembered them with boxes of Milk Bones. Robert will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of the giver’s choice.
