Robert Emmett Niehaus, 86, passed away on January 2, 2024.
Bob was born on July 8, 1937 Kansas City, MO, to Arthur and Kathleen Niehaus. Bob's life journey was marked by a deep commitment to family, service, and a strong work ethic. After graduating from Redemptorist High School, Bob served his country honorably in the Navy before embarking on a successful career in the transportation industry. As an administrator for both the railroad and a trucking business, his work took him across several states, including Nebraska, Utah, and Idaho, before returning to the Kansas City area where he made his home.
Bob married Sharon Mae (Wholey) and from this marriage they were blessed with five children. Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob found joy playing in a variety of sports. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sharon; son, Kevin; and well as his sister, Patricia Smith. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Phyllis (Bob) Ryan, Cindy (Jim) Collier, Robert “Bobby” Niehaus and Craig (Amy) Niehaus; grandchildren, Brent, Bradley, Anthony, Andrew, Kyle, Katlyn, Emily, Lindsay; eight great grandchildren; and brother, Richard “Butch” Niehaus.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Redemptorist), Friday, January 12th, at 9am with a Mass following at 9:30am.
