Robert “Bob” Gene Blann, 83, of Maysville, MO, passed away peacefully on April 06, 2023. He was born on October 21, 1939 to Clyde and Wilma (Jackson) Blann in Kansas City, MO.
He graduated from Penney High School in Hamilton, MO. and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1966 as a missileer. On May 31, 1959 he married Sarah Conner in Kidder, MO. Together they had two children, a son, Bryan and daughter Barbara both of Maysville, MO.
Robert owned and operated Custom Craft of Cameron body shop for many years in Cameron, MO. He spent his life restoring and customizing classic cars, building airplanes and sailing boats. If it was broken, he could fix it. He worked for TWA and American Airlines and retired after 38 years of service. While working for TWA he was part of a volunteer group who restored the Northrop Alpha, an all-metal aircraft that hangs in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. After retirement he continued to customize cars making sure his wife and children had classic cars of their own. Many of his cars were featured in magazines. Hallmark used pictures of his car in their calendars and other products.
He was very artistic and became an accomplished painter in retirement. He loved to paint tall ships but could paint anything he had a picture of whether it was wildlife, cars, beaches or German castles.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Blann.
Survivors include his wife Sarah (of the home) and his children: Bryan Blann, and Barb (Les) Denny; grandchildren: Shannon, Libby, and Alex; as well as his brother: Paul Blann.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 14th, 2023, at Lindley Funeral Home in Braymer, Mo. with burial immediately following at the Cowgill Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be may to Comfort Care Hospice located in Cameron, MO.
