Richard James Gauert, known as Dick to his friends, Dad to the ones who looked up to him, and Grandpa to the ones who adored him. He left this world on June 18, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospice house. Visitation will be held June 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 and funeral will be on the 23rd at 11:00 at Terrace Park Funeral Home in Kansas City Missouri. He was born in Kansas City Missouri on December 6, 1933, to Father, Herman Henry Gauert and mother, Mary Ann (Bierley) Gauert. He had four brothers Bob, Ted, Jerry, Gene and Al and sister Hazel.
Richard met the love of his life, Gloria Jean Gauert. On August 20, 1954, they were married. The two of them were married for 58 wonder years and blessed with three boys, Gary, Ricky, and Timmy. Richard was a very devoted family man. He coached his boys in baseball and was an umpire for the league for many years. Richard had a grand daughter, Andrea Kennison who he raised with Gloria. They supported her in all the activities. She married Owen Kennison and they blessed them with two Great Grand daughter, Hannah, and Laney Kennison.
Richard first job was as a paper delivery boy. He would get up before the sun to get his orders ready. After High School he started a job at the Kansas City Southern Railway in the yard. He worked his way up in the company retiring as an Assistant Controller in the accounting department.
Richard served 4 years in the Army Reserved. He was a member of three Swope Park #617 AF & AM Masonic Lodge, the Truman Club and The Republican Task Force.
He leaves behind his brother Al Gauert, grand daughter, Andrea Kennison, grand son in law, Owen Kennison, great grand daughter Hannah Kennison and great grand daughter Katie Kennison. Richard will forever be remembered for his caring heart and determination. The family asks that memorial contributions be made in his honor to North Kansas City Hospice House.
