Rex W. Ryan, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at KU Medical Center. He was born in Independence, Missouri on August 5, 1951, to the late Norman E. and Mary (Drevs) Ryan.
Rex was a loyal Chiefs, Royals and Mizzou Tigers fan. He was always athletic, playing baseball, basketball and football in high school, continuing to play recreationally in college and beyond. He excelled at math and worked as an accountant for many years. He always had a song in his heart and tapped the rhythm with his toes. Rex was overjoyed to have the opportunity to sing in the Fairview Christian Church Choir the past couple years. He was a talented musician and played the trumpet through high school and college.
Rex was the loving husband of 36 years of Jacqulyn “Jacie” Ryan née Gieschen; cherished father of Rex B Ryan, dear brother of Marilyn Depew, Denise James and David Ryan. He will always be remembered as a loving brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, parishioner, co-worker, neighbor and friend.
Rex owned and operated G&S General Store in Napoleon with his wife, Jacie, and son, Rex B, for 20 years. Concurrently, he was blessed to hold full-time employment as an accountant with Haldex for 14 years, and Shoppas Mid-America for five years. For the past five years he served as an accountant at United Bio-Source. He enjoyed his tenure immensely, and felt blessed to work with professionals he admired and considered dear friends. Rex and Jacie had beautiful plans for retirement.
Friends and family may gather at 11 AM, on Saturday October 27, 2018, at Fairview Christian Church, 1800 NE 65th St, Kansas City, MO 64118. A memorial service will follow at 12 PM.
