Rebekah Jean Ure, 101, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024. Born March 29, 1923, in Kansas City, MO to Norman and Hazel (Lyon) Jennings, she was the eldest of 8 children. Rebekah was raised in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Wyandotte High School. She worked for the Dept. of Agriculture until her marriage to Walter Ure in 1946. Together they shared 64 years of marriage. After raising their children, she returned to the work force at Fidelity State Bank until her retirement.
Rebekah was involved in her children’s many activities such as teaching Sunday school classes and being a Cub Scout Leader. She was an excellent seamstress and avid quilter, having made many outfits for her children and quilts for her grandchildren. Rebekah was an excellent cook and could make the best pies ever. She loved being with her family and they feel so blessed to have had her as their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother for the many years of love and joy she brought to them.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Walter Ure.
Rebekah is survived by her 3 children: Marilynn Augustin (Dave), Larry Ure (Kathy), and Barbara Lacy (Greg), 6 grandchildren: Alyssa Hayles (Scott), Amy Francis (Steve), Kerstin Ure (Jyh-Yeuan- Lee), Erik Ure (Grace), Courtney Lacy-O’Neill (Tim), and Blair Agata (Koki), 8 great- grandchildren: Vivian, Rebekah, Andrew, Alexander, Cooper, Eli, Kaihui, and Minghui, sister: Norma Jean Williams and brother Wayne Jennings as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rebekah will be dearly missed by all. A Celebration of life to honor her will be held at a later date.
