Phyllis Marjorie Wright (83), daughter of the late Walter & Chelcea Burton, was born on September 26, 1934 in Salina, Kansas and departed this life on August 8, 2018 in North Kansas City, Missouri.
She was a member of the 1952 graduating class in North Kansas City High School and was voted best dancer in the Jitterbug. In her early years she worked for Niagara Therapy before making the transition into the funeral service industry. She worked for Mount Moriah Terrace Park North Funeral Home for over twenty years. During her time of service, she earned several awards with S.C.I and was later inducted into the S.C.I hall of fame. Not only did she earn the love and admiration for those she worked with, she also captured the hearts of the community she lovingly served.
Phyllis never met a stranger nor did she ever make an enemy. She truly loved spending her time caring for those around her. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, Nani-P, and a friend to many people. She will be truly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dona Williams; her two brothers in law, Bruce Williams and Ronnie Joy; and one sister in law, Anna Lou Burton. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Wright; her children, Michael Ferrara, Gina Ferrara, Connie Balano, Patricia Ferrara, Judy Ferrara and Jason Wright & wife Latha; her brother; Walter Burton; her sister; Ruthie Joy; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Terrace Park Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, prior to the service, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Terrace Park Cemetery in what is known as “Phyllis Island”. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Charles Ferrara, Frank Valdez, Cameron Baker, Phillip Balano, Ralph Siraguso, Frank Siraguso and Andy MacNaughton.
