Pamela Powers

January 9, 1963 — January 9, 2020

Pamela Jean Powers, 57, of Kansas City, MO passed away surrounded by family on January 9, 2020.

Pam was born on January 9, 1963 in Frankfurt, Germany to Kent and Jeannette Babcock. She grew up in Urbandale, IA and attended Iowa State University where she met and married her husband, Ken Powers. She received her Bachelors in Psychology at ISU. Ken and Pam then moved to Michigan in 1985, where their three children were born. They settled in Kansas City eight years later. She devoted her life to raising her children, growing in her faith, studying health and wellness, and helping everyone she could. Those she met were touched by her generosity and kindness. Pam spent 10 years working as a substitute teacher and volunteered in countless organizations, including KC Pet Project. Pam was a follower of Jesus and a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family to many places including Iceland, Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and Colorado. They particularly enjoyed living in London, England in 2011, after their children had finished high school.

Pam will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband, Ken; children, Laura (Nick) Tegtmeier, Luke Powers, and Alyssa (Parker) Maher; grandchildren, Matthew and Landon Tegtmeier; parents, Kent and Jeannette Babcock; brothers, Paul and Patrick Babcock; grandmother, Louise Gingerich; father-in-law and mother in-law, Ronald and Myrna Powers; and many extended family and close friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, followed by a celebration of life at 3:00pm, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 9555 N. Oak Trafficway, KCMO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to A Turning Point (c/o Good Shepherd) or KC Pet Project.
