REVEREND OWEN D. MOODY
Rev. Owen Moody, 87, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully Sept. 2, 2015. He was born on April 15, 1928 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Owen was a Southern Baptist Minister for over 40 years who had earned his Bachelors of Divinity from Central Seminary. Through the years, Owen pastored at 4 different churches, primarily serving at Gashland Baptist Church where he spent 26 years. Owen retired from pastoral ministry in 1990. September 19, 1950, Owen married Lora Faye Parker. To this union, 2 children were born. Owen’s life-long mission was to introduce people to the Lord. Through personal Soul winning while pastoring, he won over 275 to the Lord, performed 261 marriages and over 200 funerals.
Owen is preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Rachel Moody, brother, Jay Moody and sister-in-law, Edith Moody.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Faye Moody, son, David (Terri) Moody, daughter, Janna (Denny) Porterfield, 3 grandchildren, Maggie (Scott) Bennett, Nikki (Ryan) Sanneman, Jessi (Brandon) Fogal, 5 great-grandchildren, Brady, Charlee, Sophi, Mikala, Bonni and one on the way, and 2 brothers, D.L. (Martha) Moody, and Charles (Lorene) Moody.
Visitation will be Friday Sept. 4, 2015 from 5-8 PM at Gashland Baptist Church, 601 NE Barry Rd., KCMO 64155. Funeral service will be Saturday Sept. 5 at 10 AM at the Church. Interment in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Jesus Film (Jesusfilm.org) or Give Bible League (Give.BibleLeague.org).  Online condolences at TerraceParkFuneral.com.
