Ona Marie Black Blair

Kansas City, Missouri – After 88 years, Ona Marie Blair, loving wife of the late George C. Blair Jr., was called home by her Lord and Savior on September 27, 2014. Ona was born on 26 August 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Kenneth and Ona Black. After attending high school in Pittsburgh, PA she entered the workforce to support the country’s efforts during World War II working at Bettis Airfield in West Mifflin, PA. When the war ended she married George Blair and started her family. Ona and George moved to Kansas City, MO in the late seventies and eventually chose the city as their retirement home. Ona worked extensively in retail in the North Kansas City area until her retirement. She was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, enjoyed reading, needlework, travel and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sisters, Carol Fraely and Shirley Elicker; her children; George (“Skip”), Judy, Jeff and Barbara. Additionally, Ona is survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 Northwest 108th St, Kansas City, MO, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014. Visitation will precede services 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. Burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
