Norma Blackburn

Norma J. Blackburn, 89, of Kansas City, MO, peacefully passed on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at home surrounded by family. She was born on April 16, 1928 to Perry Ernest and Altha Mae Plemmons of Iberia, MO. In the early years , she worked at a shoe factory in Richland, MO, where she met her husband, Carl Blackburn. Years later she worked at the Ramada Inn in Kansas City, MO, until she retired.

She married Carl Evans Blackburn on March 25, 1949 in Lebanon, MO. Together they raised five children; Cheryl Beaver, Jackie (Reveille) Blackburn, Jimmy (Kathy) Blackburn, Johnny (Stacie) Blackburn, and Rhonda (Loyd) King, all of Kansas City, MO.

Norma enjoyed her family and enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing cards, and spoiling her grandkids. She is a cherished grandmother to Chris, Heather, Lesley, Ashley, Amie, Katie, Barry, Jennifer, Tiffany, and the late Kelly Dawn Blackburn and Loyd Evans King.

She was a Great-Grandmother to Christopher, Abby, Chloe, Avery, Kiley, Brooke, Brittanie, Morgan, Madison, Audrie, Mackenzie, Kinlie, Lauren, Kameron, Kayleen, Wesley, Brittany, Ethan, Carter, Peyton, and Brayden.

Norma is also survived by a sister Janice Beard, of Iberia, MO., and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6 – 8 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. The funeral service will be at 11 AM, Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Gashland Baptist Church, 601 NE Barry Rd., KCMO with a visitation 1 hour prior.  Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery.
