Neva Alice Locke

Neva A. Locke, 92, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on July 15, 2023.

Neva was born on October 25, 1930 in Slater, Missouri. She was one of 13 children born to Joseph and Winona Curl. She graduated from Slater High School and soon after met and married the love of her life, Homer Locke. They were married for over 50 years and were blessed with three children. Neva was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her home and her family. She was an excellent cook, but her Christmas cookies were a family favorite. In her spare time she enjoyed word search, bingo, and crafts (especially crochet and tatting). She was very generous and always gave her latest creations away to her loved ones. Neva also cherished the time she spent with her family at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Neva is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer Dee Locke; daughter, Brenda McCollum; and ten siblings. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Dee (Art) Whitchurch and Steven (Kelli) Locke; grandchildren Deena (Robert) Weltz, Frank (Kelly) Whitchurch, Matthew Locke, Amanda (Kendall) Pottorff, Emilie (Bentley Hanna) Locke, Mary Beth Locke, Zachary Locke, Justin McCollum and Tiffany McCollum; great grandchildren, Breeanna, Bryleigh, Jameson, Paisley, Hazel, Phoenix, Greyson and Brenda.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 1104 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64118 on Saturday, July 22nd, with visitation from 9am-10am, followed by the funeral service at 10am, and graveside service at Terrace Park Cemetery. The services will be available via live stream at the church's Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
