While on leave in 1945 he married Frances Irene Calvert.Mike started in the passenger elevator industry in 1949, and retired as Service Manager from Montgomery Elevator in 1988.He was a quiet man, more comfortable listening from the margins than pressing his own opinions----although he was quite willing to lob the occasional zinger. He was a gentle and devoted husband, and a steady, reassuring presence in the lives of his four children. He will be greatly missed. He possessed an acutely mechanical, yet playful mind, preferring inventive, quirky solutions over the ordinary. He put these skills to use all of his life, solving problems large and small for his family and friends. He was at his happiest with tools in hand, helping others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NorthCare Hospice House.Arrangements under the direction of Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 N.W. 108th Street; Kansas City, MO.
