Merilyn Scott was born in Okarche, OK in 1933. She grew up on a farm where her parents raised chickens and cattle. She graduated from El Reno High School, in 1950. After years as a full-time mother to seven children, she returned to school to complete her Associate degree in medical records from Penn Valley Community College. Merilyn was a devout Catholic and worked as a Communion Minister at the church and for the homebound and hospitalized. One of her greatest passions besides her faith was her gardening. She was well known for her magnificent flower beds of roses, daylilies, and geraniums, to name a few. Merilyn is preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Pearl Senn; sister: Patricia Adams; son: Robert Douglas Scott; and grandson Austin Scott. She is survived by her sister: Jerre Beth Windham; and remaining children: Patricia (James) Costello, Michael (Janet) Scott, Rodney (Debbie) Scott, Jerald (Virgie) Scott, William (Lisa) Scott, and Mary (Kevin) Ruby. She was a beloved grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services for Merilyn will be held on Monday, September 26, at St. Ann Catholic Church: 7231 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208. The Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by visitation with family, until 11 a.m. Mass will begin at 11am. Internment will follow at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery 801 NW 108th St., Kansas City, MO 64155. The family would like to thank the Home Health Care and Hospice Teams of St. Luke’s for their wonderful assistance during this time. Donations in Merilyn’s honor may be made to St. Luke’s Foundation for St. Luke’s Hospice House.
