Melinda Dianne Neer

Melinda Dianne Neer, 79, passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 25, 2023.

Melinda was born on March 14, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Gordon and Virginia Roelofsz. She met and married Delbert "Butch" Neer. Delbert's Army career granted them the opportunity to travel and live abroad. They spent a short time living in California, Germany, and Detroit before relocating to the Kansas City area in 1977, where they raised their five children. Melinda worked in drafting and as a restaurant manager, but her true calling was caring for children. She babysat for many years and was a bonus parent and grandparent to many of the neighborhood children. Family was so important to her and her children lovingly referred to her as the "Supreme Being" because of all the wisdom and love she gave to them. She also had a great love for dogs and bred Great Danes, English bulldogs and Frenchies. Melinda was an avid reader and movie buff. She also loved traveling - especially to beach destinations.

Melinda is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 39 years, Butch. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Chris (Colleen) Wright, James (Vikki) Wright, Jennifer Clifton, Larry (Moranda) Neer, and Patrick Neer; grandchildren, Ariel Schultz, Autumn Rhodes, Michael Wright, Eli Neer, Alex Clifton, Abbi Clifton, Ethan Wright, Tyson Wright, Haley Wright, Ciara Wright, Raven Neer, Cole Neer, Cayden Darling-Neer, and Baylee Neer; Ezekiel Neer, Abraham Neer, Nico Wright, Jax Rhodes, Clayton Rhodes, August Rhodes, Aurora Schultz, and Lucas Wright; and siblings, Cynthia Jarrar, Larry Roelofsz, Sherry Kubin, and Charles Williams.

A celebration of life will be held at Vineyard Church on Saturday, March 4^th, with visitation beginning at 10:00am, followed by the Celebration of Life at 11:00am. Melinda will be laid to rest at Terrace Park Cemetery.
