Maxine Ruth Croy, daughter of the late Irvin and Edith Leavy, was born on March 24, 1922 in Boise, Idaho and departed this life on December 11, 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri. At the time of her passing, she was 96 years of age.
At a young age her family moved to San Diego, California where she was reared and attended school. A few years after graduation she was united in marriage to Kenneth Kooken and to this union three children were born. Together they moved to Abilene, Kansas where Kenneth owned and operated his own business. She then moved from Abilene to Topeka where she began working for the Kansas Motor Vehicle Department for about twenty years. She loved dancing, playing cards, and teaching exercise classes to senior citizens. She attended church on a regular basis throughout her adult life.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her late husband, Jim Croy; and one brother, Lewis Leavy. She is survived her three children, Gayle, Carolyn and Dale; four grandchildren, Darcy, Chris, Kelly and Lance; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jim Leavy. She also leaves behind many friends who will all truly miss her.
