Maurice Wilson King, 96, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on January 13, 2022. He was born to the late Mark Lafayette King and the late Jessie Margaret Gadd. He married the love of his life, Florence Hammond, in 1945.
He spent many years as a truck driver for United Transport and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He also spent many years working at Do It Best Hardware in Smithville, MO.
Maurice will be remembered for his loving and easy-going personality. He was a family man who was always willing to help those around him. His family considered him to be the patriarch. He enjoyed life to the fullest. In his lifetime, he found a love for John Deere tractors and his dachshunds. You could often see him wearing his long-sleeved flannel shirts made of wool, and his rigorous daily schedule.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Florence Hammond; son: Thomas King; and brother: Herbert King.
He is survived by three daughters: Susie (John) Thorman; Patricia (Mark) Barclay; and Karen (Ronn) Shatswell; as well as numerous family and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff of North Care Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital, for their care and kindness to Maurice.
A placement service for Maurice will take place at a later date.
